Horace Burgess’s famous recycled treehouse reaches 97 feet in height and 12 feet wide at it’s base. He claims the 10 story treehouse to be the largest treehouse in the world and no one has questioned him. “I built it for everybody. It’s God’s treehouse. He keeps watch over it,” said Burgess, who got inspired in 1993 after a vision. “I was praying one day, and the Lord said, ‘If you build me a treehouse, I’ll see you never run out of material.”
Burgess used mostly recycled pieces of lumber from garages, storage sheds and barnsand is now on his 14th year of construction. Even though it appears finished, he says he still has plans to expand his treehouse.
